Well he's hiding out at Little GEMS!!!
Little GEMS loves to bring you new stylish brands and they don't come much better than Where's That Bear? The brand is the collaboration of two friends, one a senior editor for The Sunday Times, Style Magazine and the other a fashion designer who wanted to create a brand that was hardwearing and fun and stylish to boot without breaking the budget and we think that they have delivered in spades!
We took the chance to speak with Olly Paton, founder of Where's That Bear to find out her inspiration for the brand and what makes her tick. Olly says, "It's a cliché but three years ago I was walking around the park with a friend, my newborn son asleep in his buggy, discussing how I could build a career that worked around my children and their needs. That friend is now my business partner, and what we discussed eventually became Where’s that Bear?". That is certainly a sentiment we recognise here at Little GEMs in go-getter mums who want a decent work/life balance to spend time with their children. The ethos behind Where's That Bear? is to be fun, affordable, hardwearing and stylish, there is a bear hiding on every garment for that kid fun factor.
When pressed, Olly admits to buying basics from H&M (don't we all?) and having a soft spot for Caramel Baby & Child for their prettiness and prints and Bonton for their vibrance.
Olly and her business partner both work and live in Stoke Newington and Dalston in East London they love this fun, vibrant and diverse cultural hotspot, not least because it’s very baby friendly! She feels that the streets are like kiddy catwalks, and takes influence from everything around them. One of her favourite restaurants is a local, old fashioned fish and chip shop called Sutton and Sons on Stoke Newton High Street. We asked how she likes to relax on the weekends with her family and we were very pleased to hear that she loves the newly designed playgrounds in Victoria Park ( well we do too ) let's not forget the splash area which is open during the summer months from 1 pm. Further a field she likes to spend weekends by the sea or camping, catching a movie
Finally we are lucky enough to get the inside track on what will be happening for Autumn Winter collection for Where's That Bear? and Olly tells us that the new collection has pretty patterns and expressive prints, lovingly hand-drawn and screen printed onto comfy jersey fabrics. There will be colourful statement plains allowing mix and match layering - a must for the autumn weather. New highlights include winter cord pieces; dungarees, dresses and trousers; and skirts in vintage rose, aubergine and flame orange. Bear loves family fun, so patchwork chambray dresses and matching shirts allow brothers and sisters to coordinate their style which is a winner in our book.
Little GEMs thoroughly enjoyed finding out all about the Bear and we hope that it has spawned an interest in such a fun loving brand!
Little GEMS was proud to be part of the brand refresh for Bobux with the launch of their new innovative Play range. We had to make our way to Frame, an uber cool gym in King Cross where there was lots on offer including exclusive freebie shoes fitted by us (of course), a hip hop dance class the littles with beats from FunDMC, face painting and lots of other treats too many to mention. All hosted by Angelic Bell and Mother Meetings.
Bobux is one of our favourite brands that we stock. We have faith in the quality and wearability of the shoes especially for the first and early walkers. I have always sent my own children to school in Bobux as I believe them to be really good for their foot development. The shoes are well made with breathable and flexible materials which last until they are grown out of who can all for more!
We love the new Play Range which is fun colourful and designed for bombing around in while allowing the feet to move as nature intended. The animal design on the inside of the shoes makes for an interesting twist. You can tell your child that if the tigers are 'kissing' then the shoes are the right way round for left and right.
We stock the Blaze tiger hi-tops in orange and the yellow Snow Wolf and the Blue sharks but you can get green parrots and pink Unicorns too! Although strangely the onion unicorns didn't go down that well with Hackney mums! They are available in sizes EU22 through to EU29.
One of the testers from Mother Meeting, Pip's mum has said :
Pip has worn hers every day since the launch and it is fair to say we are both really happy with them and would highly recommend them – they’ve been admired by both the other kids, parents and staff at pre-school and Pip loves the colour, design and fact she can easily identify which one goes on which foot and can do them up all by herself. She has been scooting and running in them, and whilst being lightweight and flexible, they are also surprisingly durable. The custom tread was inspired by Formula 1 tyre tread and designed for good grip on heel plant and toe drive, and the amplified heel grip and unique ‘stop’ grip has been designed to improve grip when scooting, skateboarding or biking.
